Northcote Stud Hosts the Young Horse Championships 2020

Sunday 15th March 2020

It’s non-stop at Northcote Stud Equestrian Centre, and it promises to get busier and more exciting over the coming months. They’re hosting the Young Horse Championships (YHC) 2020 – five days of show jumping starting on the 27th of May.

YHC began in June 2015 as a great way for riders and trainers to assess the development of young horses. It’s a showcase of some of the best young horses British and European breeding offers, while creating a stage for all ages and levels. With competitors and spectators coming from all over the UK and Ireland, and sometimes further afield, it’s the busiest single arena event in the country.

Riders and horses will compete on an Andrews Bowen ‘ProWax’ surface. This is one of many new facilities since the new owner, Emily Whiteside, took over last year. Together with her family and staff, they bring over 60 years of combined equestrian experience to Northcote.

Their intimate knowledge means the venue, located in Blackburn, is fully-equipped and provides a safe environment for riders, fans and horses. The spacious stables are monitored by onsite staff and CCTV 24/7. Specific packages are also available to ensure horses get the food, rest and care needed during YHC 2020, just off the A59. Very convenient when trailing a horse-box…

An excellent onsite restaurant provides a fine selection of hot and cold foods for riders and their families. Yet another facility to help people focus on and enjoy some great show jumping.

With over £20K in prize money, it’s easy to see why this is one of the most popular events among UK competitors. In 2018, one competitor rearranged her wedding so she could attend the show!

Northcote Stud is looking forward to welcoming riders and horses to their excellent venue for YHC 2020. Everything is in place for a great show – they can probably even arrange a wedding if needed.
