Christmas Songs – Hannah Rose

Wednesday 27th November 2019

Local Artist, Hannah Rose Spurgeon is 25 and lives and works in the heart of Clitheroe.

A full- time musician playing at Weddings each weekend across the Ribble Valley’s beautiful venues, Hannah is also a music teacher (guitar, ukulele and vocals) at Good Vibrations Ribble Valley.

Hannah says, I have been playing guitar since I was 11 – literally by accident. My Dad has always played guitar, so there has always been one in the house and in my atmosphere – he used to say “I bet you can’t play that…” and I always wanted to prove him wrong. Music is a part of my every day, every breath, every thought. I grew up listening to everything from Stevie Wonder to James Taylor to AC/DC to Joni Mitchell to The Cocteau Twins.

I have been teaching for 7 years now – since I left Sixth Form after my A Levels. I focus on guitar, ukulele and vocals using “Alternative, gentle, modern teaching techniques – music lessons for the soul!” Any age, any ability!

“I look to teach my pupils to find their own voice and creativity. Here at Good Vibrations Ribble Valley we don’t take grades; we learn to play the music we love in a relaxed, encouraging, passionate yet professional environment.”

I love playing at Weddings too – and do so with the amazing guitarist Adam Feilding. Adam adds such a glittery, warm quality to our sound. We have been a duo for over three years now, having played at hundreds of weddings together. We love taking special requests and making each wedding we play at truly unique – the quirkier the better!!

My biggest achievements to date include playing at The 02 in London – performing my original songs in my own band called Indigo Rose – we were supporting 80’s legends Johnny Hates Jazz in April 2018.

I also have had the pleasure of having my original EP, The Cold Spell, mastered at Abbey Road Studios. A day I will never, ever forget….

As Indigo Rose – not only did I meet my future fiancé – but we travelled the country gigging and playing at Festivals including BBC Children In Needs/ Chris Evan’s “Car Fest North”.

Future plans – studying Sound Therapy – where I can take my love of music, sound, mindfulness and meditation to a new level of healing and relaxation through Sound Baths. Watch this space!!! I’m also getting married in June 2020 to Alastair Brabbs, so playing at all these weddings is giving me lots of ideas!!
