Fiver Fest 15-29 February

Tuesday 4th February 2020

Fiver Fest.

The 15th February sees the welcome return of ‘Fiver Fest’ to some of Clitheroe’s independent shops – this time for two whole weeks! A national initiative to encourage local spending, ‘Fiver Fest’ makes up a small part of the ‘Totally Locally’ scheme, which seeks to bring business owners together in order to generate custom and a sense of community in their respective towns. The brainchild of branding and marketing expert, Chris Sands, he originally experimented with his ideas in his hometown of Hebden Bridge after Caldervale Council put out a call for a shop local campaign. The positive effect his suggestions had upon the town was so huge that Chris decided to roll out his scheme at a national level.

Fortunately, the Ribble Valley is very lucky to have many thriving towns with loyal resident’s keen to support their local businesses. With this in mind, Clitheroe has decided to adopt the ‘Fiver Fest’ portion of ‘Totally Locally’ as an ideal way to thank its regular customers. The town took part in the last event back in October and saw increased activity in participating stores and via social media. Businesses put on special £5.00 offers to encourage custom and highlight the diversity of goods on offer on the local high street. This time around will see the same again but for an extended period of time. ‘Fiver Fest Fortnight’ will run from the 15th February until 29th February and will seek to highlight the campaign’s message that, “if every adult in the UK spent just £5.00 per week in their local shops and businesses, it would be worth £13.5 billion going back into our towns”.
