CHRISTMAS TREES AND LOGS

There is nothing like the look and smell of a real Christmas tree to make the whole house look and feel Christmas-ready.

Empress Fencing has been supplying Christmas trees to the Ribble Valley and beyond for the past 15 years and are proud to supply homegrown British trees.

We have Nordmann fir, the most popular non-drop tree in the country for very good reasons; it usually grows to a great shape and has excellent needle retention. The needles are also much softer than the traditional spruce and therefore make them great for pets and children – no more spiky needles catching in your sock!

Our Norway Spruce is perfect for outdoors, conservatories and any cold spot. It’s a much cheaper alternative and also has a great, traditional shape. However, the needles are very sharp and it’s not advisable to place it in a heated room.

We will be open 7 days a week from Sunday 1st December. Our advice would be to pop down in the first week or two of December to choose your tree in order to get the largest choice possible. We then recommend you take the tree home and leave it outside until it’s really time to bring it in the house. Remember, the sooner a real tree goes in, the less chance there is of it lasting until twelfth night! If you want your tree to last all through the season, the later you can put it up, the better!

CHOOSING.

Know your height and width tolerances in your room. They all look smaller in our yard!

Buy early for great choice and leave outside until you need it if possible.

Gently pull your hand along a branch and there should be hardly any needles coming off non-drop trees.

DO’S.

Do cut a tiny section off the trunk to increase water take-up.

Do spray with water.

Do leave outside as long as possible.

DON’TS.

Don’t put near a radiator or directly onto a heated floor.

Don’t put in a very hot room if possible – hot stoves etc. are not a tree’s friend!

DISPOSAL.

Check with your council and Facebook for local schemes.  It can often go into your recycling bin, but Ribble Valley Council ask that it be chopped up first.

ENVIRONMENTAL BENEFITS.

No use of plastic, an all-natural product.

Fully biodegradable.

One tree absorbs approx. one ton of Carbon Dioxide in its lifetime.

When cut, the fields are replanted, therefore protecting greenbelt and countryside

Our trees have a low carbon footprint as all are grown in the North of England

LOGS

Empress Fencing will keep you snug and warm this winter with our hardwood logs, which are seasoned or kiln-dried. They are sold by volume not weight.

They are available from the yard in bags and we also deliver loose loads if required.

We would like to send Christmas wishes to you all for a very merry, festive season and a peaceful, healthy and prosperous New Year!
